The war is far from won

Smilin' Jack — pretty good list.

That 1958 / NEA gets me.

My grade school education — happening at that time — was under the Olde ways, and the education I received has served me superbly for a lifetime.

I was in Jr High when they rolled out New Math, and I could tell what they were trying to do, but also could see that I got it as well as I did because I already had such a good grounding in the old math.

New Math was the first major, noticable "new" technique.

I pitied the next generation. I lived through the beginnings of the demise of decent education.

OTOH, I have also witnessed the growth of the new Constitutionalism, the reawakening of the Spirit of '76, among what had become a mostly placid, somnabulent citizenry. Long way to go to overcome the 20th Century's depredations, but I am encouraged. Even about upcoming generation.

The war is far from won, but less lost than some fear.

& that's my tl;dr 4 2day.
