Twenty-One Years Ago This Spring, We Moved Out of Chicago

Carol: "Mindful Webworker, Where did you move from?"

Ah, twenty-one years ago this Spring, we moved out of Chicago after living there for fifteen years. It was Milady's home town (W Side), her mom and several of her siblings still lived there. We had lots of her family around a lot of the time, lots of cousins for our kids. This native smallville Okie had lots of "ins" to know how to live well in the Big Potato. It was a good and comfortable life, luxurious even. For big city living.

When we had a shot at moving us & the kids to semi-rural smallville, we cut off a couple of limbs and left city luxuries behind. It's been harsh, and hard, in a lot of ways, failed at everything I set out to do after the move, and we may never have a stable or comfortable life again, but on the whole I thank God we were able to get away when we did.

And our kids, now well-informed adults who can look back at Chicago as it is, have thanked us for having moved, so I guess it worked all right.

Since you asked.
