cthulhu #580: At one point in my recent trip to Vegas, I attracted the attention of a mime. Away from other people, I said, "if you do not allow me to ignore you, I will hurt you."...

Entirely understandable and justifiable. Clowns are scary. Mute clowns several orders of magnitude worse.

I set up the coffee machine for the morning before I pour myself a beverage. It's good to have routines.

S

Slapweasel: the scene where The Hulk slams Loki is one of the best scenes ever.

I'm an old comics fan - read Amazing Fantasy #15 (1st Spider-Man story) when it was current. I remember Stan teasing us about a Silver Surfer movie back in something like '67. I've been a fan, and critic, of the translation of four-color superdupers in all media. Highlights like Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman (stories notwithstanding) and lowlights like the 1970s Capt America, Spider-Man and Dr Strange TV movies.

And of all the adaptations, stories, cartoons, tv shows, movies, of all those characters, I gotta concur...

...the scene where The Hulk slams Loki is one of the best scenes ever.

"Puny god!"

OregonMuse #546: So, who's drunk?

Hey, I just now got home. Gimme couple minutes.

I won't be drunk, but I'll be ready to pass out soon enough anyway.

I haven't been doing many webworks lately, but I would like to get back to regular webworking. So, a lame beginning is still a beginning, eh?

Didja ever find yourself reading an Ace treatise, and partway through you start drifting over into the sidebar? Did you ever find yourself not doing that?

So I wandered off into the WeirdZone on YouTube. This and that which shouldn't exist or you won't believe or whatever. Managed to extricate myself by clicking on a Natl Geographic show on UFOs. 45 minutes of "how would a flying saucer work"? No, thanks.

After which, I see what's up on AoS and find the ONT. With an extra-dose-of-stupid video. Good to see that those two black guys on the porch in a video months ago aren't the only ones too stupid to figure out the 80mph question. Diversity!

And if you go to the 80mph gals video's page on YouTube, the sidebar has lots more how-stupid-are-we videos.

Who needs alcohol to destroy the brain when we have our fellow citizens?

Morons, I loves ya, because I know 99% of you are not the burning stupid. Where else can say that. (If you're wondering who the 1% is, it's probably you.)

Random remark--

Couple nights ago, we watched Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford in Gilda (1946). Actor who played Ford's assistant looked familiar, but I couldn't place him. One of those tough guys you can see in a hundred films. Looked him up tonight - Joe Sawyer. No wonder he was familiar - he was Sgt. O'Hara in a hundred Rin Tin Tins.

Tonight we watched a two-reeler (I guess - 1 hour) from 1935, George and Gracie in Here Comes Cookie. There was another tough-guy broken-nose character (actually called "Broken Nose" in the film) that I thought at first might be the same actor. But he was James Burke, who - if I've got this right - was Luke, the mug that Bogart took down a couple of times in Maltese Falcon.

I really admire those old hard-working character actors who maybe never got top billing, but filled a lot of roles.

cthulhu, I notice you pretty much always quoteback the whole comment. Any reasoning behind that? And I hope you don't mind if I only partially quoteback yours.

Dogs and men have been in close proximity long enough to have evolved together. We have instinctive knowledge of each others' social dynamic....

Yes, indeed - but it may take some effort to entice that dynamic if there's been mistreatment.

When this guy first came to us, he was abandoned and apparently had been ill-treated. Took a long while to rein in his wilder behaviors like running off-property or barking perpetually, and especially to alleviate his anticipating being punished for any slight.

But lots of patience, love, long walks and repeated instruction, along with his eagerness to please, to learn what his "job" was, eventually got us trained to each other. Lots of credit to Milady for that.

Best thing was, at least, he came to us house-trained.

Cicero: That is indeed a succulent rack.

Speaking of succulent racks, I just browsed through kbdabear's pix for tonight (I only read them for the articles). Those ginger days are kind of tough to look at. If you've ever had your life ruined by a ginger - even nearly a half-century ago - you know what I mean.

chemjeff: ...sounds like you have him well trained...

Heh, well, he is mostly self-assigned as guardian of home and all the two- and four-footed family members, and I have encouraged him to think of himself especially as taking care of Milady, but this behavior of waiting for her to get in the car was his own idea. He's very keen on figuring out our patterns and anticipating what we're going to do.

I don't think there's a dog like him, but if there were, I'd have two.

Home home on the range.
Where my neighbors are all kinda strange.
But I will not be harmed.
Even though they're all armed.
In the country where things rarely change.

(Gotta work on that one)

Our dog is such a gentleman. When we are getting ready to go home, he goes over on the passenger side of the car, and sits and waits. After I open the door and let Milady in, help her with the seatbelt, and close the door, only then does he get up, to come around on the driver's side where he and I get in. Good boy.

It costs too much for alcohol
But it costs 'way more for pot,
or LSD, or cocaine,
especially if you're caught.

So if I have to pay for
some stuff to make me dumb,
I'll stay within the boundaries,
and just keep drinking rum.

Good night good hearted Morons. May the lightning strike far from you and yours.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, and saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
