Seems to me if somebody is threatening to sue you for something you said, you don't shut up about it. That makes you look guilty.
:BurtTC at November 13, 2013 10:17 AM

Hardly.

I don't presume to speak for the authorities here, but my understanding was, not because of suit, but in line with HQ policy regarding specific a$$holes. Similar to TFG SCoaMF/T, curse the very name, also LGF (?) & some ex-commenters, so I've read... although much more personal here.

When I last looked in the archives, the last thread which Purp (IIRC) cautiously pulled for this had been re-instated.

Doesn't change the name disrecommendation, o' course... which I confess I carelessly violated then. :/

:: spit :: Patriot Riders need to sideline Westboro sharks, as it were.

:: fishing behind couch cushions & between car seats to scrape up another meager donation to Ace - just on general principles & appreciation ::

minx.cc/?blog=86&post=344930#c21415713 was my reply on last thread re feel-good story. (The AoS style guide has length limits on full text reposts before 100 comments, IIRC.)

Oklahoma is based on Choctaw Indian words which translate as red people (okla meaning "people" and humma meaning "red"). Recorded history for the name "Oklahoma" began with Spanish explorer Coronado in 1541 on his quest for the "Lost City of Gold."

Yup. Knew that.

Yet I never hear our extensive local AmerIndian population crying, "rayciss!" about the state name.

They do cry, come for the buffet, stay for the jackpot.

Thanks, Mama AJ!

Hey, that stranger? I know that guy. Eccentric. He and his wife run a reindeer preserve. Often wears this crazy fur-trimmed cherry-red velour suit. Jolly fellow with a hearty laugh. The very soul of generosity to children. Glad to see the current economy hasn't slowed him down!

Nor has the 'shrinking' polar ice....

Lesbiman 2 - "Plus, with Hillary we get Bill Clinton back" -BlueStateRebel

I... don't overhear conversations like that much.

I might at Thanksgiving.... except we're usually on our way home by the time "no politics talk" Gramma goes to bed and the relations are loquaciously lubricated.

"...the clarity of Goldwater's conservative agenda has yet to be undertaken and fulfilled..."

I was only twelve when AuH2O was a bumper sticker. I was aware what a propaganda lie the Daisy Girl ad was, but I did not then as well appreciate for what Goldwater stood and what he stood against. Not that many folks about whom I can say, time has only increased my appreciation of him.

Also reflected upon over the years: anyway, Mr Johnson, a small tactical field nuke dropped near Hanoi would've been quite a game-changer, wouldn't it've? Clue: Hiroshisaki '45. Probably wouldn't really've set off WWNuke.... :/

before the day moves on any later, your daily doggerel:

English is a funny tongue
Which has no standard form.
To sounds and words and letters,
There isn't any norm.
Just for one example,
Alarm and harm and farm:
What logic cannot tell is why
They do not rhyme with warm.

Getting their hands in the till is Job #1 for our RINO rulers, looking out for citizens is not even in the top ten!
Posted by: Hrothgar Establishment RINO

I've said this here before, but...

Dad led a county-wide GOTV campaign locally that basically had a massive door-to-door effort of folks saying 'We want you to get out and vote. We want you to vote Republican, but mainly we want you to vote!"

It was so successful, it made the news and attracted the attention of the state GOP. Dad ended up as GOP committeeman, helped lead a state-wide GOTV effort that got us our first GOP governor, and started forces in motion which, ultimately, changed the state from Southern Dem to Reagan Republican. Pix of Mom & Dad w Ike & Mamie, & with Dick & Pat, of me & my sister with Goldwater at our house, are some of my treasures.

Gov. Henry Bellmon's bio covers this. Dad gets a chapter. Dad once told me, the state GOP hadn't been so much interested in winning as in fundraising, and Dad was not as 'controllable' as they had thought.

Dad died in January '68, when I was 15 and I was already forcibly distanced from him due to my folks' divorce a few years before. No 'inheritance' of knowledge or wisdom from all that. (Just like the ancestral business wisdom lost between generations.) I never got to talk with him about how exactly they did it. As you can imagine, I often ponder it.

I also often pray the spirit of that remarkable state turnaround comes to our nation.
