I hoped I was a well enough known quality here, or quantity, whichever, that you'd know I was just joking. Please tell me you knew that. I mean, you can't be real novelist, because you're on Ace. rimshot Explained jokes are the worst ones.

But, no, I actually haven't. I have a stack here of about 10 books I'm not reading that I would be glad to add your novels to. Better to add them to my wife's stack - she has 10 books that she is reading.

Well, it's unlikely I'll generate a novel this month, but I do have a new snarky 2-min video that will change the world. Uh-huh. Linked in nic.

You Can Keep Your Plan
featuring Jay 'Blarney' Carney

Yeah, easy target. But I had fun.

I sure do not have a video age computer, though. It's like the dancing bear - it's not impressive because it dances well, but that it dances at all.

1. I didn't know writing novelists through the blog counted. Okay, I'm covered, then.

2. I meant real novelists.

Hmmm. Hmmm. Yeah, think I'll go with reply #1.

Wait. Did I just type that out loud?

National Novelist Writing Month?

I don't know any novelists to whom to write.

Wait! My BiL writes big city crime mysteries. I could write him!

Happy new month, all. May it make you thankful!

And my first-glance guess was Lucille Ball, too.

Happy All Saints' Day to those on the D.C. coast and those of us living under Sun time in the Central Zone.

Whew. Wasn't sure we'd make it.

Good night. Be of good cheer.

Jackie Coogan

Got his start in film as a baby (uncredited) in 1917. His big break was being "The Kid" (1921) with Charlie Chaplain.

But best known as...

Is it just that I'm slow tonight or is thisplacemvngrellyfast?

I came up with a better solution. Quit drinking 19 years ago. kbdabear

Is this allowed??? CBD, ruling? BCochran1981

Too each their own, 26 years for me, beds doing somersaults and almost looking like a feature on Cops was enough for me. Misanthropic humanitarian

As I said on here recently, I discovered I was, so to speak, always on duty, two years ago tonight.

http://mindfulwebworks.com/tales/playlists/2013-10-31

Well, as long as I'm posting this follow-up, some other old Halloween webworks I dug up.

4.

Halloween Party - An old party invitation cartoon from 1981. The art isn't great, but IIRC, it turned out better than the party.
http://mindfulwebworks.com/art-of/halloween.html

5.

The News is Spooky - Absolutely nothing to fear. From Halloween, 1997. Fine print must be more intuited than read (think, 'visual reading' or whatever they call it).
http://mindfulwebworks.com/doodles/the-news-is-spooky

6.

The Beast with Four Heads - A shaggy-dogcritter Gothic horror tale, or something, illustrated. Seemed seasonally appropriate. Monsters. Madness. Bloody axes. All the fun stuff of the season.

BOO!

::dumps out trick-or-treat bag::

I get the Twix. You can have the apple.

1.

You Can Keep Your Plan - Sparkly new, latest attempt to make a snarky video. Featuring Jay 'Blarney' Carney and the dance of the deviled tongue. Watch Jay's head spin while he spins. I know, I know, going for Carney is fish in a barrel, but I couldn't help myself. (2min)
http://mindfulwebworks.com/radical/you-can-keep-your-plan

2.

Spooky Tales and Scary Bits - Things that go SLAM! in the night! Videos (not my webworks) playlist for Halloween. More fun than scary. Pranks, kids, heavy on the Addams Family. H/t Ace & Anna Puma for two of these.

3.

Scary Halloween Masks 2013 (Women's) - Last plug (this year) for these five real-life masks guaranteed to scare your socks off. There's still time to print and wear yours tonight. Accessorize with bad outfits, shrill snarls, and lying through your fangs. (Just never got around to doing the menfolk. Maybe next year)

their self-esteem greatly outpaced their level of competency.... -Ace

Still incomplete. The missing component is the understanding that Government, like a sledgehammer, is almost always the wrong answer to any given problem. -weft cut-loop

You're both right (slapping both on shoulders) - ha hah! And still incomplete. (mounts soapbox)

Civilization developed knowledge and reason, a Golden Rule, and the ideal of Self-Government. I'd add, a common 'faith' of mutual religious tolerance.

Progressivism is an ironically inverted misnomer, like all their projections and deceptions.

Everything "Progressive" actually regresses to those swamps of savage ignorance, superstition, immorality, and tyranny, and, of course, religion of the Elite, from which (some of) human society has barely emerged.

(back-flips off soapbox)

The first Halloween after we had moved to our third floor Chicago apartment, we didn't expect any trick or treaters, but we got some. 3 teenagers, no costumes, totally soaked. Obviously had just been hit with something like water balloons or shaving cream.

We said, what are you guys supposed to be?

One answered, we're a mess. Good costume!

We gave them candy.

When I'm complaining about the cold later this winter, I must remember these incredible beautiful warm days at the end of October 2013. Just took a brief, brisk stroll in the twilight. In shirtsleeves.

Good morning everybody. I believe I have successfully shifted my rising time by an hour. Also feeding the cats. For the sun, not the gummint. Next week all you government drones will join me. Fools. Repeal! Repeal! Repeal DST!

So, what's new?

32 names that you know of ...
Mwah haaaa hhgg.. uggghhh ::cough::

Of all the little handle bits, though, that could end up on the list, could have been worse than the "simple solutions" one. And has been.

Just in case I don't get back with another comment:

1. Hello.

2. I watched Ronald Reagan's speech for Goldwater with my daughter tonight. Edifying and horrifying half-hour. I think the only thing missing from a total parallel with the current situation is... where's a Barry Goldwater?

3. If I don't post again, I'm lurking. Don't look behind that potted plant in the corner. What... what is that plant?

4. Last-minute costume worries solved: click my nick. (SFW - but horrifying)

I am assuming that they do not consider the reigning monarch to be the head of their church. -Vic

One of the fun things about being able to say I was raised in the Episcopal Church was, nobody among theology arguers ever quite found the right grounds for attack. Plus, there was no worry of pride in one's sect's origins....

Translation: standards will be lowered until we get enough women into the combat arms branches. Plus, any criticism of them or of the changes will result in leadership being crucified. -Colorado Alex

I appreciated that translation.

Being raised in a previous millenium, my first rhetorical thought was, what able man, with danger before him, does not put himself between danger and a woman?

Then I thought about that scene in Heinlein's Love is Not Enough where the couple is settled 'way out in the wilderness, and creeps come by. When they show their intentions, it's the man and the dog who are in the light, face-to-face with the creeps. The woman with the long rifle is aiming through the door, from the hidden darkness of the next room.

Because, you know, maybe not side by side, but man and woman is a partnership, after all.
