A data center critical for allowing uninsured Americans to buy health coverage under President Barack Obama's healthcare law went down on Sunday, halting online enrollment for all 50 states in the latest problem to hit the program's troubled rollout.

I think Toby's jokes are really funny, but sometimes I just don't get the punchline.

Mmmm. Pizza makin's on mrs's homemade herb rolls. Cuisine of the gods.

They warned, don't enter in
Those racist Ace of Sp8rs

Strange was the attraction
The drunken revels' roar
The fervent shout Get Off My Lawn
As I walked in the door

Nearby gunshots resounded
Pants fell and boobies strained
The urge to flee abounded
Entranced I but remained

When suddenly I hear it

I did this all wrong. I read the post and followed links and watched videos and read comments instead of strapping on my safety helmet and diving right in.

Hi.

Damn. Forgot the safety helmet.

When she admitted it and wrote about it on her blog she started getting hate mail...even threats against her family... -Tami

One might be a functioning light-on-the-meat omnivore, body types vary widely, but these fanatics - needless to exposit - are not engaging in rational, thought-out decisions. I just tried it out; never preached it. What did Jefferson say, if you must have Special Dietary Preferences, have them to yourself?

Meanwhile, a relative, after living on decades of sausage pizza and What-a-Burgers, became adamantly vegetarian, then, later, lived again on sausage pizza and What-a-Burgers. But in between, vocally vegetarian. Much disturbed when we visited bringing beer, later alcoholic.

Fads, dogmas, and foolishness follow pundular patterns.

For some reason, I feel compelled to add, this morning's breakfast was bacon with a fried egg cooked on top, with cheddar lightly melted on top of that, served on my talented wife's delicious herb rolls. Bacon, cheese & egg sandwich.

And, since I haven't mentioned this for a while,

Me, too!

Once upon a time I was a vegetarian. I mean, except for Mom's crispy bacon if I was there, of course. Otherwise, pretty strict vegetarian. For a couple of months.

A very ignorant vegetarian, who didn't know about combining proteins, nor (importantly) about the vitamins you can only get from meat. And why does 'proteins' not follow the 'i before e' rule?

And right about the time I started developing health problems better left unmentioned, this woman I'd known in college came to visit me and said, hey, I read this book that says you need this B vitamin, and I took some and I got all better.

And then she introduced me to coffee. And Chicago bars. And New York City. And stir-fried beef. And things I'd never have known on my own, like our three kids. I still won't touch raw bird, though.

So, if you're a vegetarian, get your shots. Of meat.

But, pretty at a distance, troubled in the guts. Only thing my kids've thanked us for is moving to Oklahoma. I wasn't sure that would take, but I guess they figured it out.

You're right, mindful...sigh. I've lived here all my life, and it is rotting underneath. The lakefront and the Loop are lovely and vibrant, but there's so much cronyism and corruption. The conservative members of my family, and the wealthier people we know, are bugging out and heading south and northwest.

But last night the view on the drive was "establishing shot" gorgeous.

LOL funny. That's a keeper!

For anyone still here, speaking of Chicago, two cartoon webworks I did years ago about The Big Potato.
A kind of dribble-of-consciousness look at the windbag city.

A sci-fi'ish explanation for the 'accidental' flooding of downtown in 1992.

Guess I'm tuning out for a while.

We were coming home last night on Lake Shore Drive and it was a cold, clear night, and, damn... Chicago is a beautiful city.

Gem, you bring mist to the eyes of this adopted Chicago boy and his native Chicagoan wife. Fourteen years and three kids there, now almost twenty years ago. We had a sweet life there, and her family.

That's funny. I actually had Frank Cady's face in mind as I tried to conjure up a name. (d.Jun/2012 age 96)

Or was I thinking of Charles Lane?

Hell is for Heroes - never seen that, or, so long ago I don't recall. (Always a good possibility.)

Hm. Looks like Bob had a fair supporting cast in that.

Bobby Darin?

They. Don't. Make. 'Em. Like. That. Anymore.

Funny, I can't think of any names right now.

And that's the way it usually is. The handy man from One day at a time, The Sam the butcher from the brady Bunch, Mrs. Livingston from the C of EF, Mrs Drysdale from the beverly hillbillys, Gladys Kravitz from bewitched and on and on. We never know there names but they made us laugh.

I also like to look up character actors on iMDB. Those familiar faces! Always fascinating to see how much, how long they've been working, their various roles.

Funny, I can't think of any names right now.

Clicked on Edna Krabapple link, pic came up, I thought, wait, I recognize her! Was Bob Newhart's receptionist.

Confessing to a soft spot in my heart head for Newhart - some of his work.

Andy, you're working too hard on content for the morning posts. Settle down!
