"The World Trade Centers are gone"

Morning, Glories!

I didn't get up and check for Vic News or Drudge first thing in those days. We weren't newshounds, had no TV. It was all over by the time Milady and I were driving into town and heard the news on the radio.

At first they were talking about Rush being grounded at some airport. Huh? Then they talked about refineries being shut. That made my skin prickle. Then came the recap: "The World Trade Centers are gone."

I hadn't yet heard how, didn't know about the planes, Pennsylvania, or the Pentagon. We didn't know the whole horror story. But I knew who had done it because they'd said they would. First thing I did was curse the bastards for that.

We turned around, drove back home, and had a talk with the kids about "your Pearl Harbor." As far as changing the world forever, the comparison was apt. But it's not comparable insofar as it was less than four years from Pearl Harbor to Hiroshima. We won WW2.

Whatever I thought we would do in response, the current world situation -- John Kerry as SoS? Sodamn Hussein as President?? -- is certainly not what I imagined on 9/11.

Cool and light rain this morning. Sky's getting light here in the middle of the nation. Another day breaks.

God bless America. Again.
