An Indianapolis mother has been arrested, accused of leaving her children in a hot car and then beating a woman who stepped in to help
A controversial IVF lottery will launch in Britain this month giving prospective parents the chance to win thousands of pounds toward expensive fertility treatments in top clinics. The scheme, which the media have dubbed "win a baby," has already run into trouble on ethical grounds with critics calling it inappropriate and demeaning to human reproduction.

Timothy, who is about 4 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 70 pounds, was last heard from May 13 during a cellphone call with a relative, authorities said. At the time, he was near Sterling and Rock Falls with his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen. The next day, Fry-Pitzen's body was found in a Rockford motel room, where she apparently had committed suicide. Fry-Pitzen stated in a note that she'd left Timothy with adults she didn't identify.
The woman, who is in her 40s, responded: "I killed my son. I want to kill myself." She was taken into custody at the Concord State Police barracks. State Police officials confirmed that they are questioning the woman in connection with the discovery of the boy's body which was found fully-clothed under a green fleece blanket on Dennettt Road in South Berwick, Maine on Saturday.

A New York woman and her three children died after their minivan plunged into the Hudson River in Newburgh, N.Y., Tuesday night after a domestic dispute... Another child, a 10-year-old boy was let out of the van before it plunged into the river... "It's a horrible sight, all of them in the car," Newburgh Police Chief Michael Ferrara told the Times Herald-Record newspaper....
Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy is often incorrectly referred to as a psychiatric disorder, said Dr. Marc Feldman, a psychiatrist at the University of Alabama who wrote "Playing Sick? Untangling the Web of Munchausen Syndrome, Munchausen by Proxy, Malingering, and Factitious Disorder." "It is not a mental illness," Feldman said. "It is a form of abuse, just like sexual abuse, physical abuse and emotional abuse — it's just a variant." [At first I thought, whatttaya mean 'not a mental illness'?! Teachers realized the girl was in labor and called an ambulance. Medics rushed to the scene, and the 12 year old delivered a healthy baby girl in a nearby building. The young mother was then taken to the hospital but has refused to name the father. Family members said that the schoolgirl's father previously sexually abused another older daughter and served two years in jail for the sex crime... The girl was living with her father and brother after he won custody following a divorce from their mother....
