CHEYENNE - The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a new statement that seeks to address media reports that military personnel and their families have been targeted by Middle Eastern men here and in northern Colorado.

The statement was issued late Thursday afternoon. It says the FBI in Denver has "found no credible threats to military personnel or their family members in Colorado or Wyoming.

"The FBI continues to coordinate with its military and law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of our communities," the release continued. "The FBI asks the community to remain vigilant and report signs of suspicious activity to law enforcement."…

When light broke on an early morning last month, 94-year-old Herb Morris was flying again.

On this flight, however, the former military aviator was not at the controls but being honored as a special passenger on a plane headed for a daylong tour of veterans monuments and memorials in the nation’s capital.

The retired Air Force major joined more than 80 retired servicemen and women from across Oklahoma who flew from Tulsa to Washington, D.C., on June 9 as part of the nonprofit Honor Flight Network. Bartlesville residents Bonnie Clavijo, Duane Marquis, Hadwen Clayton, Harold Hawley and Charles Martin, and Dewey resident Lee Stone also took part in the trip.

Morris described the busy day as a “wonderful experience” and “very well organized.” …

…In response to the recommendations, McCall posted on Facebook, “To the higher powers that be: You have suggested we Marines NOT wear our uniforms to recruiting stations for “our own protection”. Let me make myself clear. If I’m not going to hide in Afghanistan during a war, why in the hell would I EVER hide in my own country?”

“The day us Marines run and hide from our enemies will be the day this country falls,” he continued. “We won’t EVER let that happen. We WILL continue to wear our uniform with pride.”…

The conservative activist group Citizens United is releasing a new poll of its membership, which surveyed some 4,000 activists across the country. Just two percent approve of the job Congress is doing. More than 90 percent want their Member of Congress to replace current House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH).…

A group was fed up with waiting, so they got a shovel and dug up a patch of grass next to Nathan Bedford Forrest’s grave and statue in a public park in the Medical District. The group says they wanted the statue and remains removed for a long time, because he was a Confederate soldier, a KKK leader and a slave trader. “If he’s gone, some of this racism and race-hate might be gone,” said [a random insane person]… The group told WREG if the process took too long, the could take more drastic measures.…

Update — A Tennessee man drove across the state to repair the damage…

“Some of the Marines who were shot to death last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., effectively sacrificed themselves to save the lives of others, diverting the gunman away from a larger group of potential victims, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation into the killings,”

Four Marines and a sailor were slain in the attacks on two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Some of them had deployed overseas and seen battle, others had not. Here is a look at the victims…

…"The Congress, the courts, and the president ignore the Constitution we have today and our Founders knew we would eventually get to that point, and they gave us a method… to amend it to keep the federal government limited in its scope and its jurisdiction," Coburn said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

The method he is referring to is Article V of the U.S. Constitution.…

"Most people don't think about this, but the states created the federal government -- the federal government didn't create the states," Coburn said. "And the supremacy, if you read the enumerated powers, written in the Constitution, it was very limited what the federal government was supposed to have, but everything else was supposed to be left to the states and to the people." …

[Re possibility of runaway convention] Coburn dismissed such fears.

"That's just hilarious to me," he said. "You have a runaway convention right now. You have a president that doesn't pay any attention to the Constitution. You have a Congress that doesn't fulfill its responsibility. And you have a Supreme Court that ignores its own precedents and the Founders' intent. Tell me why that isn't a runaway constitutional convention? That's what's happening to us now." …

…Minnie Smith said she was gardening in her yard earlier this month when she dug up an old dog tag. The tag belonged to a Marine named Arthur Riva. Smith said she has no idea how the tag got in her backyard. …She wants to find the Marine's family. "I'm going to hold on to it just like my life depended on it…." Smith has lived in Onslow County all her life. She said growing up in the community has taught her to respect all military members. That's why she's determined to return the tag. …

TULSA, Oklahoma - A special honor for a World War II and Korean Conflict veteran took place on his 90th birthday. During his party, Barney Mecom was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the European Theater.… [Video news report]
