…On this day in 1892 the Pledge of Allegiance was first recited by students in many US public schools, as part of a celebration marking the 400th anniversary of Columbus's voyage. Despite endless legal challenges by radical atheists and other AH's it has been upheld in courts at every turn. However, there probably aren't very many schools that still have students recite it.
