He wound up committing suicide in 1984, possibly due to the relentless pain he suffered from that back injury.

I don't believe in ghosts. I might allow some kind of residual forces leftover from people. We don't know everything.
Regarding those ordered to put up barrycades,
I used the phrase "reprehensible morally." Too strong. Allen G put it better, "kind of sad and pathetic."
